Welcome to your peaceful escape in Sam Houston National Forest. These rules exist to protect you, your fellow guests, local wildlife, and this beautiful land we share. We appreciate your respect and cooperation.

These Rules & Regulations form part of the binding agreement that governs your stay, together with our Terms & Conditions and Guest Agreement (Liability Waiver). By completing your reservation, you agree to comply with all rules below. Violations may result in immediate removal without refund.

1. Access & Parking

Access is via a 2.4-mile Forest Service Road. Only street-legal vehicles are permitted.
Off-road or unlicensed vehicles are not allowed on Lost Forest Cabins property.
Parking on the Forest Service Road is strictly prohibited. Use designated parking areas only.

2. Pet Policy

Pets are welcome in designated pet-friendly cabins only (maximum 2 pets per cabin).
Pets must be on a leash at all times when outside the cabin.
Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up waste throughout the property.
Damage caused by pets will be charged to the guest. Pets are not allowed on furniture.

3. Pond, Water Activities & Safety

Swimming in the pond is strictly prohibited at all times.
Kayaking and paddleboarding are permitted. Life vest (PFD) use is mandatory — no exceptions.
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times near or on the water.
If you fall into the water, exit immediately. Remaining in the water is not permitted.

4. Forest Glider

* COMING SOON: The Forest Glider is currently under construction and will be available soon. All rules below will be in full effect upon opening and are covered by the Guest Agreement (Liability Waiver) signed prior to check-in.

The Forest Glider is a tree-to-tree seated gliding experience designed for guests of all ages to enjoy freely at their own pace. It runs close to the ground between trees and requires no staff assistance. The following basic safety rules apply:

Maximum weight: 180 lbs (82 kg). Exceeding this limit puts stress on the equipment and is not permitted.
One rider at a time. Do not overload the seat or attempt to ride with another person simultaneously.
Children under 7 must be accompanied and assisted by an adult for each ride.
Children must be supervised by the primary guest at all times while using the Forest Glider.
Sit securely in the seat and hold on with both hands before releasing. Do not stand on or hang from the seat.
Keep feet up and away from the ground during the glide to avoid dragging or tripping.
Guests with back, neck, or joint injuries, or any condition aggravated by impact or sudden movement, should use their own judgment before participating.
Use under the influence of alcohol or any impairing substance is not permitted.
Inspect the seat and line before each use. If anything looks worn, loose, or damaged, do not use it and notify staff immediately.
The Forest Glider may be temporarily closed due to wet conditions, wind, or maintenance. Signage will indicate when it is unavailable.

The Forest Glider is used at the guest’s own risk and is covered by the Guest Agreement (Liability Waiver) signed prior to check-in.

5. Fishing & Hunting

Catch-and-release fishing is permitted in the pond. Fishing is also allowed in nearby designated areas.
Hunting is strictly prohibited on the entire property.

6. Firearms, Fireworks & Prohibited Items

Firearms and open carry are not permitted on Lost Forest Cabins property.
Fireworks of any kind are strictly banned.

7. Fire Safety & Campfires

No smoking, candles, or open flames inside cabins at any time.
Cabins are equipped with fire suppression systems, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers.
Campfires are permitted only in designated fire pits. Fires must be supervised at all times and fully extinguished before leaving.

8. Noise & Quite Hours

Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Please respect the peace of the forest and fellow guests.
Music and gatherings must remain at a reasonable volume at all times.

9. Wildfire & Nature

Do not feed, approach, or disturb wildlife. This is for your safety and theirs.
Please stay on marked trails to protect native vegetation.
Birdwatching and nature photography are encouraged. Take only pictures, leave only footprints.

10. Equestrian Guidelines

Horses are permitted on designated forest trails only — not on cabin grounds.
A current Coggins test is required for all horses brought to the property.
Horse trailers must park in designated equestrian areas.
Equestrian activities carry inherent risk and are subject to the Guest Agreement (Liability Waiver) signed prior to check-in.

11. Trails & Outdoors Activities

Guests have access to over 260 miles of Sam Houston National Forest trails. Maps: samhoustontrails.com/maps
Trail permits may be required. Check recreation.gov before heading out.
All outdoor recreational activities — including hiking, biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and the Forest Glider — are subject to the Guest Agreement (Liability Waiver).
Children must be supervised by an adult during all outdoor activities.

12. Sustainability & Waste

Please use designated dumpsters for trash. Compost bins are available on the property.
Avoid single-use disposables — cabins are stocked with reusable supplies.
Conserve electricity and water. Turn off lights, A/C, and faucets when not in use.

13. Weather & Emergencies

In case of emergency, dial 911. Each cabin includes a basic first aid kit.
Avoid wooded areas and open water during thunderstorms. Follow any emergency guidance provided by staff.
Lock cabins and vehicles when unattended.

14. Seurity & Right of Admission

Management reserves the right to deny entry or remove any guest who violates these rules, poses a safety risk, or engages in unlawful behavior. Removal may occur without refund, per our Terms & Conditions.
